Engelszell: New Trappist (r) beer: Zwickl!

After the introduction of Trappist Weiße in 2019, more and more voices were heard asking for another beer made in the Trappist monastery of Engelszell. The monks in particular were looking for a table drink with a moderate alcohol content for their festive and public holidays. Zwickl meets all these expectations.

Zwickl

This Trappist beer presents itself as amber in colour, with fruity aromas of top fermenting yeast. The fine dry note and the smell of fresh hops are due to the use of hops from the Mühlviertel in the north of Upper Austria. The light, full-bodied taste of Zwickl beer increases your anticipation of the next sip and does not suggest that the ABV of this beer is only 4.7%. In Austria, this alcohol content of 4,7% vol. is typical for such an unfiltered and unpasteurized beer. Every beer lover will enjoy Zwickl's pleasurable sparkle on the tongue.

The German name "Zwickl" is derived from the sample valve on the storage tanks, which is used for sampling. These sample valves have always been used by brewers to taste the unfiltered beer in the tank and are still used to check the beer´s quality.
